Third Runner-Up Miss Kentucky 2019 - Law Student
"I began my pageant journey with Becky 3 years ago as collegiate athlete who had never participated in an interview and actively avoided public speaking. She truly helped me discover and build my brand from the ground up. I saw pageantry as a way to continue dancing and serving my community after I graduated college and also as a way to conquer my fear of public speaking.
The road to my first state pageant was definitely a long and emotional one! I’ll never forget my first mock interview experience. Only then did I begin to realize what I’d gotten myself into. That night I laughed, cried, and had my first glimpse into the woman I could become. Since then, there have been many times that pageant prep felt more like a therapy session because Becky does an amazing job of helping her girls dig deep within themselves to truly tailor their platforms and overall experience to fit their goals. There is always an implied focus on how each lesson will affect daily life after the crown. Thanks to Becky, I learned personal interaction, makeup, walking, and overall presentational skills that I now use every day.
I am now a student at the University of Louisville’s Brandeis School of Law. I often rely on the skills that I initially developed for competition to help me excel during classes, moot court competitions, and networking events within the legal community. Last spring, I was elected SBA Social Chair after giving an impromptu campaign speech and allowing students to ask me questions about my ability to do the job. This is something that I never would have been able to do 3 years ago!"
